The Bishop McGuinness girls and boys continued their dominance of the Northwest Piedmont 1-A Conference by winning conference tournament championships on Friday night.
The McGuinness girls (23-2) got 28 points from Adelaide Jernigan in a 59-17 win against Carver.
Jernigan drained four 3-pointers in the first three minutes of the game as the Villains built a 22-9 lead in the first quarter and coasted to the title.
Claire Sullivan added nine points for McGuinness.
It is the Villains 11th conference tournament championship win since 2006.
In the boys championship game, Nicholas Graves scored 22 points and Alex Waterfield added 10 to lead McGuinness (24-2) to a 52-50 win against Carolina Prep and Leadership Academy.
It is the 51st straight win over a conference opponent for the Villains in the last three seasons.
Both teams will now wait to find out their first-round opponents in the NCHSAA 1-A state tournaments, which will begin Tuesday. Pairings will be announced on Sunday.
