JENNINGS, La. (NEWS 15) -- A new specialized health care facility is providing residents in Acadiana with much-needed medical services closer to home. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place for the new infusion clinic operated by Ochsner American Legion Hospital in Jennings.
The clinic, located on Elton Road, offers chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusion services. It reduces the need for many patients in Jeff Davis Parish to travel elsewhere for treatment.
"We're honoring our commitment to the community to expand access to services here in Jennings. So, we're able to offer that specialized care here in Jennings, where patients can stay closer to family and friends and have that support system," Dana Williams, CEO of Ochsner American Legion Hospital, said.
Among the infusion services provided are iron infusions, immunotherapies, and intravenous antibiotics. The clinic also features a bell-ringing ceremony to celebrate milestones in cancer treatment.
Hospital officials noted that the infusion team consists of experienced nurses who have strong connections to the Jennings area.
