Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested two suspected associates of the notorious Sundarbans robber Karim Sharif Bahini along with firearms from Sundarbans on Saturday morning.
The arrested individuals are Faruk Bepari, 30, and Imdadul Bepari, 27, both residents of Mongla police station in Bagerhat district.
Acting on a tip-off, officials from Mongla and Harbaria stations conducted a joint drive in the Bhaijora Canal area near the Pashur River in the Sundarbans at around 6 AM and arrested two individuals with firearms.
During the drive, coast guard officials recovered a single-barrel gun, three rounds of live cartridges and four rounds of blank cartridges from their possessions.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq confirmed the incident and said that legal actions are underway.
It was learnt that the duo were members of robber Karim Sharif Bahini, added the official.
