A&M men's tennis team sweeps 24th-ranked Florida

The No. 15 Texas A&M men's tennis team earned its second sweep of the season in a top 25 showdown against No. 24 Florida, 7-0 on Saturday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

Texas A&M (10-5, 4-1 SEC) opened on the right foot against Florida (8-7, 3-3 SEC) with duo of senior JC Roddick and sophomore Tiago Pires claiming court 2 against Henry Jefferson and Jeremy Jin, 6-3. Senior tandem of Luke Casper and Giulio Perego took court 3, 6-2, handing the Aggies the doubles point.

It was A&M's first doubles point since the Lamar match in February.

No. 38 Theo Papamalamis struck first for the Aggies in singles play, claiming the point against No. 95 Adhithya Ganesan on court 1, 7-5, 6-3.

Togan Tokac stays undefeated and extending his win streak to five. He triumphed against Kevin Edengren on court 6, 6-2, 6-4.

Casper clinched the win for A&M on court 5, rebounding from a 5-all tie up in the second set forced by Tanapatt Nirundorn, 6-4, 7-5.

Moments after the match was clinched, No. 45 Roddick claimed a ranked win against No. 62 Jeremy Jin on court 2, 6-2, 7-5.

After losing the first set, Pires came out on top, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Pires remains undefeated in conference play and owns a seven-match win streak.

The Aggies will turn their attention to a Tuesday tilt with Rice at 6 p.m.
