LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A crowd gathered to walk and show support for those battling breast cancer Saturday during the fourth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.
This yearly event is to remember honor and celebrate fighters and survivors. It is also to raise awareness of how prevalent the disease is.
Phyllis Gant is one of the event's organizers. She says they couldn't make this happen without continual support from others.
"There is not a community better than the Lubbock community, and they show up and they participate," Gant said.
"Every family has either dealt with this illness directly or knows someone who has. So what you see out here today is people saying we are standing to fight against cancer."
The money raised goes directly to local women and men who are battling cancer.
