To the editor: My name is Tejas Gandhi, and I am the newly appointed chief operating officer (COO) of Berkshire Medical Center.
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the Berkshire County community.
I officially joined the BMC team in November. In this role, I oversee BMC's operations as the community teaching hospital that anchors Berkshire Health Systems' continuum of care as well as many of our system's outpatient clinics (the Phelps Cancer Center and Berkshire Urgent Care, to name a few).
A little about me: I join BMC from Ocus Health, a company that I co-founded and oversaw for three years as CEO. Prior to that, I was COO for Baystate Medical Center, where I drove the organization's continuous process improvements and oversight of its strategic plan. Earlier, I was the chief administrative officer at Navicent Health, leading the organization through an era of financial recovery and restructuring.
I bring the lessons I've learned through each of these roles to my work as BMC's COO. Working closely with the rest of the BHS executive team, I am focused on both overseeing BMC's day-to-day operations and identifying areas for improvement to achieve the highest standards for quality and patient experience.
It has been a pleasure to get to know BMC's team, patients and community partners over the past few months, and I look forward to meeting more community members as I settle in. Thank you for allowing me to play a role in creating a healthier Berkshire County.
