Husband Spots Wife Selling His Items on Her Instagram Story, but Not for the Reason You Think (Exclusive)

Abbie shared a video of the prank online, which went viral, bringing in more than 6.5 million views on TikTok

When Abbie Arndt saw a TikTok video of a girl posting her boyfriend's sweatshirts on Snapchat and pretending to sell them, she knew she had to try the prank on her husband, Austin.

Abbie, a 31-year-old full-time content creator, started by looking for random things around the house that her husband loved and took photos of them from angles that made them look like items she was selling. Since Abbie doesn't use Snapchat, she created a private Instagram Story with only her husband included and posted the photos there.

"I added things my husband uses and loves the most -- his guitar, Xbox, and TV -- but I started with smaller items to ease into it. It got more intense as it went on," Abbie tells PEOPLE exclusively. She adds that Austin was visiting with his dad when she began posting.

"My husband is a pretty calm person and usually goes with the flow, so when he first started replying, asking why I was selling his stuff, like his shoes and hat, I think he was genuinely curious. He was wondering if I didn't like them or if something was wrong with them," she continues.

As the prank went on, Abbie added her dogs to story, which left Austin confused. "The one that made me laugh the most was when he realized it was a joke and replied, 'For free? At least do $600 for both,' when I posted about the dogs."

Eventually, after that, Austin detected that it was all a prank. Abbie says when he found out, he called her right away, laughing. He also told her that he was actually stressed for a second.

"We joke around and prank each other quite a bit, but this was a longer, drawn-out prank than our usual ones!" Abbie says.

The couple, who have four kids, loves sharing their love on TikTok, so after the prank, Abbie decided to compile some of the photos together and post them. She says their content is usually based around humor and trying to make people laugh.

So, when the video went viral, amassing over 6.5 million views and thousands of comments, she was so glad people found it as funny as she did.

"That man was STRESSED," one user wrote.

"'At least make it $600 for both' 😂 had me holler!!" someone else said.

Another comment read, "This is actually really funny. Well done!"

"From this prank, I learned that even after 10 years together, he still has a great sense of humor and we still have so much fun together," Abbie says. "He is always trying to get me back now and is a little more aware when I'm trying to prank him."
