SANTA FE, N.M. -- Gene Hackman, the actor known for his iconic roles in "The French Connection" and "Unforgiven" and as Lex Luthor in the original "Superman" movies, has died at his home in Santa Fe. He was 95.
According to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office, a neighbor became concerned about Hackman and his wife, 64-year-old Betsy Arakawa. The neighbor then called for a welfare check Wednesday afternoon.
When authorities arrived, they found them dead. No one else was in the home.
Their identities weren't confirmed until Wednesday night. The Sheriff's Office stated foul play is not suspected.
