Sweeney double steers Sars past Midleton to eighth Cork SHC title

Sarsfields are Cork Premier senior hurling champions for the second time in three years after defeating Midleton on a 2-18 to 1-14 scoreline at Pairc Ui Chaoimh this afternoon.

Johnny Crowley's men overcame the concession of a Midleton goal in the opening minutes of the decider to lead by 1-9 to 1-3 at the halfway stage, with James Sweeney netting their first goal in the 19th minute.

Midleton, who were without injured talisman Conor Lehane for this decider, got back with four points with the help of scores from Cormac Beausang.

However, they wouldn't be able to close the gap as Daniel Hogan got them motoring again and another goal from that man Sweeney late on (watch it below) ensured that they'd be bringing home the Sean Og Murphy Cup with a victory which marks the club's eighth SHC success in the Rebel County.
