Are you scared of clowns? It's pretty common to get the creeps around the once-joyous physical comedians. While clowns and their predecessors - jesters and fools - have always been a bit ambigious in terms of their intentions due to their masked nature, the fear of clowns wasn't that commonplace until the 80s. You can probably imagine why; IT and Poltergeist both hit the mainstream. Not only do we all fear Pennywise, who is in fact, not a clown, but an alien taking the form of a clown, among other things, but these two films kicked off a creepy clown trend that still persists to this day.
I grew up in Mardi Gras land and was a pretty weird child in general, so you better believe I had a collection of jester dolls clad in green, purple, and gold. Our protagonist in our story today also has an affinity for little porcelain clowns, although he takes it a step further by choosing to decorate his entire house with them.
