GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The next major phase of growth to Prairie Commons is common with the announcement of a new building for Grand Island.
Chief Industries, the master developer of the mixed-used development, plans to bring a new, three-story, 66,000-square-foot medical office building that they say will further establish Prairie Commons as a regional hub for innovation, commerce, and care.
Nebraska Medicine will expand its reach in Grand Island by occupying the second and third floors of the new facility -- approximately 44,000 square feet. Services to be offered in this location will include internal medicine, rheumatology, vascular surgery, advanced heart failure, cystic fibrosis, nephrology, infectious disease, lab, and X-ray.
"This new facility marks a significant milestone not just for Prairie Commons, but for the entire Grand Island community," said Roger Bullington, President of Chief Development. "We are honored to support Nebraska Medicine's growth and help bring greater access to care to the people of Central Nebraska."
"We look forward to the opportunity to expand our primary care services to the community, while at the same time supporting the education of physician residents, physician assistants, lab, radiology, and nursing students," says Isaac Berg, MD, Medical Director, Grand Island Health Center. "This facility will allow us to grow in ways that will both benefit patient care and strengthen educational opportunities through our established relationship with the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). We can't wait to welcome our patients and learners to a beautiful new home."
The first floor of the building is fully leased to an additional healthcare tenant, which will be announced at a later date.
With the building 100% leased, this project continues the momentum of Prairie Commons as a thoughtfully planned, multi-use development serving the evolving needs of Grand Island and beyond.
Groundbreaking for the facility is expected to take place in July, with construction anticipated to take approximately 20 months.
The medical office building will complement existing medical services and infrastructure within Prairie Commons and further strengthen the area's role as a regional healthcare hub..
The project will be developed by Frankfort Square Partners, LLC, with Chief Construction serving as the construction manager.
