Ontario city now home to tallest building in Canada outside of Toronto

An immense new tower anchors the Mississauga skyline, and it's now the tallest building in all of Canada outside of Toronto.

The M3 tower is the sky-scraping third phase in Rogers Real Estate Development and Urban Capital Property Group's sprawling M City development, a 15-acre, 4.3 million sq. ft. master-planned community set to contain eight towers and approximately 6,000 homes and 10,000 residents once fully built out.

Standing at roughly 260 metres, the community's towering 77-storey (marketed as 81 floors) landmark is now at its final height, where it ranks as the 5th tallest building in Canada (excluding others under construction and topped out but not yet complete) and the only building in this group outside of Toronto.

The building started construction in 2020, and after years of work, finally overtook its neighbours, M1 and M2 at M City, as Mississauga's tallest buildings earlier this year.

But it wasn't done there.

M3 next snatched away the ultra-specific crown of "tallest tower in Canada outside of Toronto" from the Stantec Tower in Edmonton, which rises just over 250 metres and will retain the crown of the tallest in Canada outside of Ontario.

But it was just this month that the tower finally topped out at its final height, a milestone celebrated by the project team on Oct. 7.

"We are pleased to be here today to celebrate this milestone and the world-class team who have contributed to all that has gone into delivering M3, the latest chapter in the M City story," says John Anderton, Vice President and Treasurer of Rogers Telecommunications Limited.

"M3 represents not only a new standard of residential living, but also a powerful addition to Mississauga's skyline and its vibrant downtown," said Anderton, who went on to acknowledge the "extensive collaboration, from city planners and consultants to architects and construction workers, that continues to enrich the city and realize the vision of M City."

Residents of M3 will enjoy spectacular views of the city, evidenced by the dramatic views seen on the tower's 77th floor. Views east look out to the vast Toronto skyline, while the towers and mist of Niagara Falls can be seen on clear days to the south over Lake Ontario.
