The countdown to The Boys season 5 is officially on. Indeed, Prime Video has confirmed when the hit show's fifth and final chapter will premiere, and we don't have long to wait.
Announced yesterday (December 6) during The Boys' Brazil Comic-Con (CCXP) 2025 panel, it was revealed the popular TV series' last hurrah will begin on April 8, 2026. It'll launch with a two-episode premiere, too, before new entries roll out weekly until its final-ever installment drops on May 20.
That's not the only thing that one of the best Prime Video shows' fanbase was treated to. As you'll see above, this season's first trailer was also unveiled - and, predictably, it teases a grimdark final run-out for the Amazon TV Original.
We already had a sense that would be case when The Boys season 5's first posters dropped days earlier. Based on this teaser, though, it seems the hugely popular satirical superhero series is fully leaning into heart-pounding, grisly, foreboding, and explosively epic territory.
There's plenty that it teases, too. We learn that the titular Supe-fighting team will reunite following The Boys season 4's ominous ending, get a quick and somewhat menacing shot of Ashley, and yet another clip of Hughie being sprayed with blood. Additionally, there are references to sister show Gen V and we see Homelander doling out punishment to... someone. Is he beating on and/or killing a major character? We'll find out soon enough.
Perhaps the biggest surprise we get, though, is our first official look at Jared Padalecki's mystery character. In February, it was confirmed that The Boys 5 would feature a Supernatural reunion, with Padalecki and Misha Collins joining Jensen Ackles, who returns as Soldier Boy, in the show's final season. However, despite a couple of brief shots of Padalecki's character, we're none the wiser about their identity.
Anyway, here's the official blurb for The Boys season 5: "In the fifth and final season, it's Homelander's world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother's Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a 'Freedom Camp'. Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found.
"But, when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It's the climax, people. Big stuff's gonna happen."
