SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WSFA) - Auburn All-American Johni Broome is one of five finalists for the 2025 Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Broome is joined by Michigan's Danny Wolf, Texas Tech's JT Toppin, UAB's Yaxel Lendeborg and Villanova's Eric Dixon.
One of the front runners for National Player of the Year honors, Broome recently became the fourth player in NCAA Division I men's basketball history to score 2,500 career points and pull down 1,500 career rebounds, joining Houston's Elvin Hayes (1965-68), Elgin Baylor of Seattle (1954-58) and Wake Forest's Dickie Hemric (1951-55).
The 11th annual Karl Malone Award, named after the Class of 2010 Hall of Famer and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, recognizes the top power forwards in Division I men's college basketball.
Fan voting starts Friday, where a vote can be submitted to hoophallawards.com. Fan votes count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
The finalists will be presented to Malone and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The selection committee for the Karl Malone Award is composed of top men's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
The winner of the 2025 Malone Award will be presented on a later date, along with the other four members of the Men's Starting Five.
