Successful Cumbrian podcaster talks ahead of series three launch

An award-nominated podcaster from South Cumbria talked all things inspiration, jingles, and the future - as season three of her podcast launches later this month.

Sukanya Nallaiah, who is based in Bowness-on-Windermere, is a successful IT consultant by trade, but in the last year she's embraced the world of microphones and conversations with 'Sukany4 - The Podcast'.

Each episode of the independent Cumbrian podcast is set around joining guests on their favourite walks in Cumbria and Lancashire, whilst they discuss their journeys in becoming the businessperson, entrepreneur, or individual they now are.

"I find a lot of podcasts really boring," said Sukanya over a video call, beginning to explain why she decided to start the project in the first place. "So, I just thought, well, why not try and create something that I might like to listen to."

One year, 17 episodes, an international reach, and multiple award nominations later, Sukanya is preparing to release season 3 of the project later this month, on October 23.

Asked how she would sum up the podcast to those who have never listened, Sukanya said: "If you're looking for a podcast that's different, that brings the outdoors to you and provides you with a fresh perspective on life based on other people's journeys, then tap in because the energy is just different here."

Sukanya moved to Cumbria around 16 years ago with her then-husband. She explained how, even though the marriage ended, she stayed put in the area because: "I really didn't want to leave, I really liked my life up here."

One of the things she loves most about Cumbria is the "quality of life".

Furthermore, the IT consultant turned podcaster highlighted how the people of Cumbria are "lovely", and the accessibility to the outdoors is unmatched. Perhaps, going a long way in helping to explain the chosen format of her podcast.

Last month, 'Sukany4 - The Podcast' was shortlisted in the Independent Podcast Awards 2025 for 'Best Podcast Jingle of the Year'.

The jingle was a song called 'Khud Se Naina Char' from one of Sukanya's favourite artists, Raghu Dixit, which was featured as series one's theme. The artist personally blessed the song being used as the jingle, the podcaster explained.

Asked why she picked that particular song as series one's theme, Sukanya noted that it was the lyrics' self-care sentiments, and its relation to the life journeys of all the respective guests she interviewed.

She said: "I thought the song was really poignant in terms of how I was shaping the podcast vision."

Furthermore, explaining what listeners can expect from the new episodes being released later this month, the presenter said: "There are some really interesting walks in season three, a couple that I'd never heard of, so that's quite cool.

"There are some really interesting people as well - so, all sorts of things [to look forward to]."

Sukanya has also very recently been informed of yet more award nominations. This time, in The Northern Power Women Awards, where she has been nominated for "One to Watch" and "Empowerment Champion".

Readers can listen to series one and two of the podcast ahead of the release of series three here.

Additionally, the launch party for series three of the podcast is at the Rheged Centre, Redhills, Penrith, on October 23. Tickets to the event can be purchased following this link.
