"Libby said we were going back right at the beginning of the year," coach Kelvin Coates said. "I liked her confidence. I guess it helped drive us."
The Golden Hawks secured an OFSAA berth Tuesday with a 5-2 win over the Villanova Wildcats in the SWOSSAA girls hockey AAA final in LaSalle.
Jeanette Legere had a hat trick, Meghan Fife and Addie Cranston also scored, and Lilly Authier was the winning goalie.
The OFSAA championship is March 18 to 20 in Aurora.
The Wildcats struck first in the opening period, but Fife replied a minute later and then Legere scored for a 2-1 lead at the intermission.
The Golden Hawks were up 3-1 after two periods and 4-1 in the third before the Wildcats scored again.
"The other team was really good," Coates said. "We just played a good team game."
