Vodacom Group Expects Earnings Hit From One-Off Cost

Vodacom Group lowered its expectations for first-half earnings after recognizing a one-off cost.

The South Africa-based telecommunications company--majority owned by the U.K.'s Vodafone Group--said Thursday that for the six month period ended Sept. 30 it now expects to book earnings per share in the range of 4.60 to 4.96 South African rand (26-28 U.S. cents) for the period, representing an increase of between 30% and 40% from the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the company expects to book headline earnings per share of between 4.59 and 4.94 rand, representing an increase of between 30% and 40%.

Vodacom didn't specify what the one-off cost related to.

The company had previously guided for EPS for the period at between 4.96 and 5.13 rand, with headline EPS at between 4.94 and 5.12 rand.
