Former NBA star Blake Griffin announces big career move

Blake Griffin, the 2009 No. 1 overall pick, 2011 Rookie of the Year and six-time NBA All-Star, is doubling down on his post-playing pivot into media and brand work.

On Oct. 1, FanDuel announced Amazon as its new partner for the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season, pledging to deliver new ways for fans to connect to the game on Prime Video.

The announcement also came with the reveal that Griffin will serve as a brand ambassador to contribute to FanDuel campaigns, on-air integrations and live events.

On Friday, Griffin officially revealed the news to his fans, sharing a comedic sit-down interview (with himself), announcing his new role with the caption, "Big news from me. To me. I'm pumped to be joining the @fanduel team."

Griffin played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn Nets before finishing his 13-year NBA career with the Boston Celtics, formally retiring from the league in April 2024.

Since then, he's moved into media, signing with Amazon as a studio analyst in January of this year, joining former NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki, positioning both as visible voices for Prime's studio shows and pre-/postgame content.

Prime Video is expected to have 66 games during the upcoming regular season, including every game from the quarterfinals and the in-season NBA Cup, last won by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Prime will also cover the NBA play-in tournament, games in the first and second rounds of the playoffs and one of the conference finals in six out of the 11-year media rights deal beginning in October.

Under the new deal, Prime Video viewers can opt to link FanDuel accounts to see live bet-tracking overlays and an odds layer that displays lines, props and parlay status in real time.

FanDuel will be promoted on Prime's NBA and WNBA coverage and use former players (notably Griffin) for on-air integrations and marketing.
