Lenovo Cancels Some Legion Go 2 Pre-Orders Due to Overwhelming Demand -

In the past few days, tech-company Lenovo has had to cancel and refund some player's pre-orders for their new handheld console the Legion Go 2. The refunds are not due to an issue with the product, but rather that the current demand for the console is greater than Lenovo's supply.

The Legion Go 2 is an upgraded version of Lenovo's other handheld console named the Legion Go. The original Legion Go is listed as having an 8" WUXGA screen, 120Hz Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and 55.5Wh battery. On the Legion Go subreddit, one moderator outlined some of the improvements coming to the Legion Go 2. In comparison to the original console, the Legion Go 2 has improved display features such as an 8.8" OLED screen and 144Hz VRR. The Legion Go 2 also has an improved battery capacity, as it is able to charge upwards to 74Wh.

All of these upgrades resulted in a major price jump, as the cheapest version of the original Legion Go is priced at $649.99 while the cheapest version of its successor is $1,099.99. The price gap is also significant between the premium versions of each console, as the most expensive Legion Go is $759.99 compared to the most expensive Legion Go 2 costing $1,479.99.

Many fans decided that the handheld's improvements were well worth the cost, as demand for the Legion Go 2 has been astronomically high. Demand has been so overwhelming that Lenovo recently discussed the matter on the Legion Go subreddit. On September 17th, Lenovo responded to fan concerns around product delays by saying "pre-orders for the Legion Go Gen 2 [have] substantially exceeded our projections, leading to unforeseen delivery range extensions." In order to compensate for the shortages, Lenovo said they were "working diligently with [their] teams worldwide to fill these orders as quickly as possible."

Two days later, on September 19th, Lenovo edited their post on the Legio Go subreddit to update fans on the supply status of the Legion Go 2. The update started out with positive news, as Lenovo states that many units are being delivered to retailers across the world. As a result, the Legion Go 2 would have increased availability at the retail locations and corresponding websites. However, Lenovo also revealed the unfortunate state of some Legion Go 2 preorders on Lenovo.com. The post reads, "we will need to cancel some pre-orders placed directly on Lenovo.com. We don't believe in holding onto customer payments for products we can't ship in a timely manner." Those affected by the cancellations will be given the opportunity to re-purchase the Legion Go 2 when its online inventory is replenished and updated.

The Legion Go 2 has a set release date of October 31st, 2025. Hopefully by the time the release date arrives, Lenovo is able to resolve their supply issues and get their popular console in player's hands.
