A third successive round in the 60's was enough to ensure that Rory McIlroy finished in a tie for 14th at the Crown Australian Open in Melbourne, and ensure that his season earnings for 2025 top the $35 million barrier.
McIlroy shot 69 in the early hours of Sunday morning to finish his tournament on 7-under, eight shots behind winner Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen.
A 68 on Saturday left McIlroy with an outside chance of posting a top-10 finish, but the Masters champion traded five birdies for three bogeys to finish his round on 2-under.
Early Birdies on two and three got McIlroy off to the hot start that he needed, but Bogeys on 7 and 9 stymied his momentum, with just two more Birdies following on 17 and 18 to end his tournament.
At the top of the leaderboard, Neergaard-Petersen kept his composure on a nervy Sunday to best home favourite Cam Smith by a single stroke to take home the title and a $225,060 payday.
With that T-14th finish, McIlroy takes home a cheque for $19,070 - his lowest pay-out of the year. Before today, the smallest cheque McIlroy had earned on the course in 2025 was $35,656 for a T-26th finish at the Indian Open.
While that $19,070 is the smallest of his year, between on course earnings and bonuses, the Holywood star has taken home an astonishing $35.8million this year in what will undoubtedly go down as the best season of his career.
