Second, third opinion a must

Second, third opinion a must

LAST week's Forum post, "Beware the many unscrupulous docs around," resonated with me.

Like 'Retired School Principal,' I've found that seeking a second or third opinion is crucial to avoid unnecessary surgery, medication, and expense.

AdvertisementTen years ago, an Ophthalmologist at an eye clinic examined me and immediately scheduled surgery without explaining my condition.

Feeling uneasy, I sought a second opinion. Surprisingly, to this day, my eyes are perfectly fine without any surgery.

Similarly, I once had issues with my left knee. An Orthopaedic doctor at a private hospital told me there was no cure and that I would be confined to a wheelchair.

Shocked by this prognosis, I sought second and third opinions.

Today, I am walking well and have even been cleared for normal activities like hiking, mountain climbing, and dancing.

This proactive step can protect you from needless surgery, emotional distress, and financial strain, preserving your health and resources for the life you want to live.
