WWE SmackDown for July 4th Likely to Be Pre-Taped Instead of Live

WWE fans hoping for a live episode of SmackDown on July 4th might be out of luck.

Currently at the moment, WWE doesn't have a SmackDown event listed for that date, and it appears the show will be taped earlier in the week to give talent the holiday off.

The company is set to run SmackDown on June 27th in Saudi Arabia ahead of the Night of Champions Premium Live Event, which takes place the next day. RAW will then be held on June 30th in Pittsburgh. With no venue, tickets, or date announced for the July 4th SmackDown, signs now point to WWE taping the episode following RAW that Monday.

The current expectation is that the July 4th edition will be filmed after the June 30th RAW broadcast, allowing WWE to avoid scheduling a live show on Independence Day -- a move that would likely impact attendance and viewership.

If WWE does end up taping the July 4th episode, it wouldn't be the first time the company has adjusted plans around a holiday -- but it still leaves fans wondering what kind of show they'll actually get. Whether it's a full slate of action or just filler content, one thing's clear: Fans will have to wait to see how it shakes out.

Ringside News will provided additional information if it becomes available.
