WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A pending swimming advisory has been issued at Whiskey Creek Beach in New Hanover County.
According to a post on X, the NC Rec Water Quality says initial testing shows bacterial levels of 137 enterococci. The water was retested on Thursday.
According to the National Institutes of Health, enterococci can cause UTIs, meningitis, intra-abdominal infections, wound infections, and other illnesses.
The results of Thursday's test will determine further action, according to NC Rec Water Quality.
