Greenwood 'loves' the idea of Bulls stay after special year with Noble

LEE Greenwood has expressed his desire to remain at Bradford Bulls, even following the departure of Brian Noble as head coach.

The duo forged a strong working relationship throughout the 2025 campaign, with Noble regularly praising his assistant's attention to detail and coaching methods.

Greenwood, who joined the Bulls under Mark Dunning before working alongside Eamon O'Carroll and Noble, said he would love to continue being part of the club's journey -- particularly if a return to Super League materialises.

Speaking to the T&A at Bradford's End of Season Awards last Thursday, Greenwood admitted: "I'd love to stay at the club.

"If the club are in Super League, then it turns to a full-time environment and that changes things for a lot of people.

"I've had a couple of discussions with people at the club, but it's now about waiting to find out whether Bulls do become a full-time outfit in the Super League.

"No doubt about it, I'd love to be a part of it."

Having joined the Bulls initially under Mark Dunning, Greenwood reflected on his journey at Odsal and the opportunity to work closely O'Carroll and now club legend Noble.

He said: "I've loved all of it. Obviously, I first joined the club under Mark Dunning after knowing him for a long time. There was an opportunity to join the club at that time, which was a period that I did enjoy.

"Then I started to work with Brian when he returned to the club, as well as Eamon (O'Carroll).

"It's been a bit of a rollercoaster for me as I've been in different roles and I've worked with a number of different people. I've loved it though.

"Working closely with Brian over the past year has meant that I've got to know him better both on a professional and personal level, which has been a great experience for me."

Noble has previously spoken highly of Greenwood's impact, and that mutual respect was clearly shared. Greenwood stated that the pair struck the right balance between agreement and challenge.

He said: "Sometimes you work with someone and you don't want to be complete polar opposites, but then you also don't want to be exactly the same as one another and agree on everything you do.

"We've certainly challenged each other, but we've really enjoyed working alongside each other.

"We bounce off one another, and his jokes are as equally bad as mine," Greenwood laughed.

"Me and Brian have agreed on a lot of stuff, but we've also had discussions around team selection and what it needs to look like."

Explaining why their partnership worked so well, Greenwood pointed to shared values and backgrounds.

He said: "We come from similar backgrounds. I've grown up in Halifax and Bradford and Brian is obviously Bradford through and through.

"We're also from working class backgrounds, which means you don't get anything without working for it, so that's probably a big part of it.

"We both have a certain mentality instilled within us and that's why we've probably bonded so well and worked so seamlessly together."

Reflecting on the Bulls' 2025 campaign, Greenwood admitted the league table might not tell the full story of their progress.

He said: "It obviously doesn't look that way (club making progress) given we finished in the same spot in the league and exited the play-offs at the same stage as the previous season.

"However, I think a lot of the metrics and underlying numbers do show that we've made progress as a playing group, whether that be the number of points scored or the win percentages.

"We came very close. It was frustrating that we couldn't work our way into the top two but that came down to us not being able to beat York or Toulouse in the games we played against them.

"Overall, I do feel there is a feeling of frustration because it felt like we were good enough to go further than we had done in the previous two years."

On a broader scale, Greenwood said the improvement across all areas of the club has been clear to see since his arrival.

He said: "Definitely. Having been here for the past three years, I've seen a clear and impressive level of progress throughout the club on all levels.

"Standards on the field, in training, and off the field have all improved significantly.

"There is a more professional feel to everything that is going on around the place, and I've loved being a part of that progress and shift in mentality.

"The club is certainly taking steps in the right direction every year."
