Govt can't afford to pay full allowance to carers in Ireland, but can afford to give Ukraine €125 million

The govt has announced that they're sending €125 million Irish taxpayers' hard-earned cash to Ukraine for them to fight against Russia, even though it appears Russia is unbeatable, and the war is coming to an end with Russia likely keeping the land they've taken since February 2022.

Meanwhile, there's no cash available to pay carers working in Ireland what they deserve.

Dara Calleary has stated that the State does not have the financial capacity to provide a full allowance to every carer, reports Breaking News.

Earlier on Wednesday, TDs discussed a motion put forward by the Social Democrats, which called for the removal of the means test associated with the Carer's Allowance.

Minister Calleary confirmed that the Government will not oppose the motion by the Social Democrats but pointed out that eliminating the means test would add an additional €600 million annually to State expenditure, reports Breaking News.
