Meeting mulls improving thalassemia prevention, bone marrow transplants

ISLAMABAD - A meeting was held on Tuesday under the chair­manship of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal to dis­cuss strategies for preventing thalassemia and making bone marrow transplants more accessible to the public. Fed­eral Health Secretary Hamid Yaqoob, heads of major hos­pitals, CEO of NIH, and experts from Pathwell Center of He­matology and Bone Marrow Transplant also attended the meeting. Recommendations were presented to enhance the thalassemia prevention sys­tem and improve the process of bone marrow transplants.
