Walmart slammed over item's packaging - shoppers fear what may come next

WALMART has been widely mocked by shoppers after a customer spotted a popular deli product was stored in a different type of packaging.

The customer was left wide-eyed when she came across the rotisserie chicken.

Normally, rotisserie chickens are stored in ziplock bags, but in one store, the deli favorite seemed to be inside a different type of bag.

Three cooked chickens were wrapped tightly in the plastic carriers that were bound together by a huge knot.

"What in the hot ghetto mess is this," the shopper, known only as Nikki, said in the TikTok video.

The eight-second clip has sparked a flurry of discussion, with scores of shoppers sharing their views.

More than 4,400 people have liked the video and almost 800 people have commented.

Walmart has been widely slammed and mocked over the apartment packaging change.

And, customers have been speculating on the changes that may come next.

"They gonna require u to bring your own tupperware next," one viewer scoffed.

Nikki responded and admitted she wouldn't be surprised if retail bosses made the change.

Other shoppers recommended packaging changes store bosses could make.

A customer suggested they could've used Ziploc bags instead of see-through bags.

And, the cooked chickens could be placed in a paper bag for good measure.

"This is going to be happening at tons of stores," another customer feared.

While others encouraged Nikki to take a defiant stance.

Some shoppers claimed she should boycott Walmart in protest over the packaging change.

"I'm sorry, I don't want any chicken bagged like this," a third emphatically said.

Shoppers have suggested Walmart bosses could've used bags with the supermarket brand on them, while others have claimed execs are blaming tariffs on the change.

Last year, Costco chiefs came under fire for changing its rotisserie chicken packaging.

The retailer started to abandon its hard packaging in favor of plastic bags.

"Bag leaked all over my car on the way home. Chicken juice all over my Pilot's cargo area," one shopper posted on Reddit.

"This was a step down in quality and I want the old containers back."

Meanwhile, others complained how the packaging change made it more difficult to tear apart the cooked chicken.
