Finally, we have received some closure on the Connor Stalions saga and Michigan football's sign-stealing controversy. On Friday, just a few weeks after the NCAA sent notice of incoming penalties to Michigan, the penalties were revealed along with the NCAA's findings. According to the NCAA, Michigan was engaged in an 'impermissible scouting scheme' from 2021 to 2023.
However, many college football fans from rival programs, like Michigan State, will likely be pretty frustrated with the penalties levied on Michigan. The Wolverines will face four years of probation and over $20-million in fines. Additionally, head coach Sherrone Moore with be suspended a total of three games, of which he was already planning to miss two games through Michigan's self-imposed penalty.
Of note, there will be no postseason ban, and none of Michigan's results from 2021 to 2023 will be overturned, so they will get to keep their national championship moving forward.
