Jesper Sorensen's debut as Vancouver's head coach couldn't have gone much better -- a 4-1 dismantling of Portland, fueled by relentless attacking play and a first-half red card for the Timbers.
While their home form was shaky last season, winning just one of their final seven regular-season games at BC Place, they were tough to beat when scoring multiple goals, dropping just one of those matches in 2024.
LA Galaxy, on the other hand, had a rough opening weekend, falling 2-0 to expansion side San Diego FC. Greg Vanney's squad has now gone two straight MLS matches without a goal, including their preseason finale against Chicago. Their road form wasn't much better to close out 2024, losing four of their final five away games.
But history is on their side -- Galaxy have won their first away game in three of the last four seasons, and they dominated Vancouver last year, winning both meetings with a combined 7-3 scoreline.
