BANGKOK, Thailand - Minister of Public Health Pattana Promphat is accelerating health policies to expand equitable access and reduce out-of-pocket costs -- centered on the "30-Baht Treatment Anywhere, Free Dialysis Everywhere" policy and the expansion of kidney transplantation services to all 12 health regions, with the National Health Security Office (NHSO) adjusting reimbursement criteria to support these measures.
The policy will allow patients to choose appropriate dialysis modalities under medical supervision, while introducing stricter audits of dialysis centers and comprehensive cost controls from prevention to palliative care, with kidney transplantation remaining the best treatment for end-stage renal disease.
The Ministry plans to expand kidney transplant centers and deploy Renal Retrieval Teams (RRTs) in all 12 health regions. Telemedicine will reach every Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital by December 2025, and 12 additional radiotherapy units will open nationwide by 2027. Meanwhile, the NHSO will brief on FY2026 health fund management, aiming to enhance both coverage and quality across outpatient, inpatient, chronic care, primary care, and preventive services.
Under the "Fast Care for Patients, Fair Workload for Doctors" initiative, the Ministry is also upgrading the Mor Prom app into Mor Prom+, a unified Super App consolidating more than 50 existing government health applications into one secure platform. The app will provide access to eligibility checks, medical appointments, treatment records, prescriptions, telemedicine, and health-promotion content.
Phase 1 will launch by late 2025, starting with online appointment bookings on October 17, 2025, at Phranangklao Hospital, Nonthaburi, as part of a four-hospital pilot program. (NNT)
