Mosquitoes are a pretty big topic in Minnesota, considering they are a huge nuisance when summer rolls around.
Of course, we are used to mosquitoes around here. In fact, a popular weather app can help forecast the mosquito season ahead - if you even want to know. Ha!
With summer basically here, we better start getting prepared for another mosquito season. With that being said, there's a city in Minnesota you may want to avoid when it really gets here.
Why? Because it's basically been named one of the most mosquito infested cities for 2025. That's not a title you want.
Orkin released a list on Tuesday (May 20th), naming the top cities that mosquitoes are swarming to. Minneapolis made the top twenty, being named the 19th mosquito city in the country right now.
Orkin looked at the number of 'new residential mosquito treatments' that were done from April of last year to March of this year. I didn't even know there were treatments like these to lessen the impacts of mosquitoes.
Orkin shared an acronym that can definitely help you out this summer! They want you to remember BITE, with B standing for blocking your skin with long sleeves and pants, along with repellant.
The I stands for installing tight-fitting screens on the windows and doors of your home and camper. T stands for trimming your vegetation to give mosquitoes one less place to rest.
Finally, E stands for eliminating standing water, which is a known breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Mosquitoes are famously the most deadly animal in the world, responsible for more deaths than any other creature. They also carry very dangerous diseases. Be careful this summer!
