Police arrest man for possessing large quantity of narcotics inside stolen car in West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - A man was arrested for stealing a car and possessing a large quantity of narcotics.

The man was identified as Benny Goodman, 30, from Hartford.

Officers said a suspicious car was seen near New Park Ave. and Flatbush Ave.

The car was a 2023 Acura TLX stolen out of New York City, according to police. The car reportedly had a misused license plate.

Police said Goodman was arrested when he returned to his car from shopping in the Flatbush plaza.

Authorities also said there was a child in the car.

According to police, there was a large quantity of narcotics found inside the car: 5.48 pounds of fentanyl pills, 70.5 grams of loose fentanyl, 272.15 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 4.88 pounds of marijuana, 48.9 grams of suspected Xanax, 6.7 grams of suspected Oxycodone, and $2,892.
