'Scrubs' star Judy Reyes confirms return: 'Thrilled to get back together'

J.D. and Turk's bromance is getting a new lease on life with the upcoming "Scrubs" reboot.

After years of teasing a revival in July, ABC announced that the beloved Emmy-winning show will return to screens with three of its original stars -- Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke -- and series creator Bill Lawrence. Then on Sept. 2, nurse Carla herself, "High Potential" star Judy Reyes, confirmed she's also signed on for the reboot.

"So thrilled to get back together with my Scrubs family!!" she captioned an Instagram post with a screenshot of Deadline's report announcing her recurring guest star role.

The hospital comedy show will see one-time interns J.D. (Braff) and Turk (Faison) "scrub in together for the first time in a long time," according to the season's logline. "Medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart, and some surprises along the way."

The beloved comedy debuted with a starring cast of Braff, Faison, Chalke, Reyes, Neil Flynn (Janitor), Ken Jenkins (Chief of Medicine Dr. Bob Kelso), and John C. McGinley (Dr. Perry Cox) on NBC in October 2001.

The show moved to ABC for Season 8 and was canceled after Season 9 in 2010. By the end of the series, several main cast members had reduced roles as the network shepherded in new actors.

The reboot will debut in the 2025-2026 broadcast TV season, according to ABC news release.

The cast has kept in contact since ABC sunsetted the show. Faison and Braff co-host the "Scrubs" podcast "Fake Doctors, Real Friends" and have also appeared together in T-Mobile ads.

In 2024, Braff, Chalke, McGinley, and Christa Miller (who played Perry's ex-wife Jordan Sullivan) had a mini-reunion, which McGinley documented on social media with the caption, "getting the band back together!"

While speaking on a panel at the ATX TV Festival in 2022, Faison confirmed "we all would love to work together again" but expressed doubt that a full season would be possible.

"It can't be a full season of a show. It would have to be a movie or something like that."
