A data breach has affected multiple major stores in Canada.
Canadian Tire, SportChek, Mark's/L'Équipeur, and Party City are affected.
The Canadian Tire Corporation, which own the retailers, issued a news release about the incident Tuesday.
The company said it "identified a data breach involving customer information in an e-commerce database."
It said the unauthorized activity was limited to that database and didn't include Triangle Rewards loyalty or Canadian Tire Bank information.
"The database contained basic personal information for customers who have an e-commerce account with one or more of Canadian Tire, SportChek, Mark's/L'Équipeur and Party City," the news release said.
"This included name, address, email, and year of birth. It also included encrypted passwords and, in some cases, truncated (i.e. incomplete) credit card numbers, none of which can be used for account access, transactions or purchases."
Canadian Tire said that the data included date of birth "in the case of fewer than 150,000 accounts."
The company said it has identified those account holders and will be contacting them in the coming days to notify them and offer credit monitoring.
The company said it "has resolved the vulnerability and is working with external experts to enhance related protections."
In-store transactions weren't impacted and e-commerce systems are operating.
