The opening contest of the season couldn't have gone any better for Lafayette. The Commodores opened up their 2025 campaign at home against the Wooddale (TN) Cardinals with an emphatic 51-0 win.
Lafayette started out strong with the opening kick return by Adarius Brown setting up the 'Dores on the Wooddale side of the 50. The opening drive for the Commodores resulted in a Kamaron Pritchard touchdown run. Pritchard would go on to rush for another touchdown in the game.
"It was really exciting," Pritchard said about his two scores. "It was great because last year I only had one. I'm trying to set the tone early so it was great to get both of those."
Additionally, senior Luke Anderson contributed with two touchdowns on the ground. Several Commodore halfbacks got carries on the night, which Anderson attributed to their group's tight-knit relationship.
"We've got a great relationship with each other," Anderson said. "Each of us are cheering each other on in practice and in the games. It's a brotherhood."
Lafayette did more than just set the tone; they put the game away entirely in the first quarter. By the end of the first period, Lafayette led Wooddale 37-0. While the Commodores were certainly dominant, the Cardinals could not get out of their own way.
Multiple high snaps, costly penalties and overall poor discipline put Wooddale into a hole they could not climb out of. By halftime, Lafayette had a commanding 44-0 lead heading into the break.
A fast-paced second half with a continuous running clock only saw one score for the Commodores as they moved to 1-0.
