Acrobat who fell on his neck in Chester Zoo performance dies 4 months later

On Wednesday, an inquest was formally opened into the death of Muharami Jamadi Ramadhani.

Cheshire Coroner's Court heard how on August 6 of this year, the 42-year-old was working as an acrobat at Chester Zoo.

Here, Mr Ramadhani, from Bradford, performed a back flip but fell on his head and broke his neck.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he later contracted pneumonia and sadly died on November 25.

Due to there being a potential unnatural cause of death, area coroner for Cheshire Victoria Davies formerly opened an inquest.

This will take place on May 5 next year.

Talking about Mr Ramadhani's death, a Chester Zoo spokesperson said: "We are devastated to hear of the tragic passing of Muharami - an acrobat who shared his remarkable talent with so many through the years.

"All of us at Chester Zoo send our deepest sympathy to his family, friends and colleagues following this heartbreaking news."
