Halifax RCMP say an officer shot at someone in Eastern Passage who was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The Mounties say officers were responding to reports of a physical assault just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, at a home in the community about 15 kilometres southeast of downtown Halifax.
Police say an RCMP member discharged their firearm during the response, and someone sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

The RCMP did not specify whether the person shot was a suspect or identify them.
They say no one else was injured during the incident.
The matter has been turned over to Nova Scotia's police watchdog, the Serious Incident Response Team, to lead the investigation into the shooting.
