Man steals over $600 worth of meat and seafood from Stop Rite in Southbury, police say

SOUTHBURY, Conn. (WFSB) - A Waterbury man has been accused of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of products from a Southbury store on Friday afternoon.

At around 1:47 p.m. officers were deployed to Shop Rite Supermarket located on Main Street South for a reported active larceny, police said.

When police arrived, they stopped the suspect who was trying to flee from the area.

Following an investigation, it was found that the suspect stole over $600 worth of meat and seafood.

Officials have identified the suspect as 63-year-old Matthew Kimbrough of Waterbury.

He was placed in custody and is being charged with larceny in the fifth degree.

Kimbrough has since been released on a $10,000 bond.

He is expected to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on June 3rd.
