Launch of Samsung's Ballie robot has been delayed

Samsung unveiled an updated version of its first home robot, Ballie, two years ago. Earlier this year, the company announced that it would be released before the end of 2025. However, as we came close to the end of this year, Samsung announced the inevitable. The launch of Ballie has been officially delayed.

In a statement provided to TechRadar, a Samsung official said, "We are continuing to refine and perfect the technology to deliver an even more impactful customer experience."

This means Samsung is admitting that Ballie isn't quite ready for primetime yet, even though you can still get updates on its availability. It isn't clear if the company is working on the hardware or software aspects of its robot.

Ballie's first prototype was first revealed six years ago. Back then, Samsung did not announce that it planned to launch the robot. Two years ago, it revealed an improved version of that robot with a new design and improved capabilities, including cameras and a projector.

Samsung advertised that it can follow you around the house, listen to your voice commands, control smart home devices, offer updates about your calendar and tasks, play music and videos, and search for information on the internet. Earlier this year, it revealed that Ballie's AI capabilities will be powered by Google's Gemini.
