Dedicated runner gearing up for final event in year-long challenge

A dedicated runner is gearing up for his final event in a year-long charity challenge.

Jethro Offemaria, an active member of three running clubs including the St Albans Striders, is set to participate in the Great South Run in Portsmouth on Saturday, October 19, raising funds for the National Autistic Society.

He also plans to attend the 80th running of Miss Great Britain at Athena in Leicester.

Jethro, who began running at 17, has been preparing for each race by completing a minimum of eight laps on the track and recording his progress using his Garmin watch. He listens to his favourite Eurovision songs to stay motivated.

Despite hospital stays in Harrow, Royston, Northampton and Bradford, Jethro has continued training.

Earlier this year, he completed the London Marathon, raising £1,234 for the National Autistic Society.

Now, he is on the final leg of his fundraising effort for the UK's leading autism charity, having already completed the Rutland 10km in June, the Saucony London 10km in July and the Vitality London 10km on September 28.

Supporters can contribute to his fundraising effort by visiting his JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/page/jethro2025.
