RESIDENTS are being told to expect thunder and lightning storms and heavy rain showers.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms covering the north west of England.
The warning comes into effect from 2am tomorrow morning, Thursday, and it will remain in place through to 5pm tomorrow afternoon.
Forecasters say that an area of heavy showers and thunderstorms, moving north-east, may cause some localised flooding.
Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, and where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
There is also a slight chance that power cuts could occur, and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.

Moreover, there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail, or strong winds.
A Met Office spokesman said: "Bands of heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to move north-east across parts of England and Wales on Thursday.
"As showers progress north-eastward, they will become temporarily slow-moving, leading to an increased chance of surface water flooding.
"While the vast majority of places will have either non-impactful rain or remain dry, a few places within this area could see 30mm to 60mm in an hour.
"Hail and lightning will be additional, possibly locally impactful, hazards."
When a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.
