Numerous law enforcement agencies in Dutchess County had their hands full late Sunday night as several calls to 911 reported a large fight in progress in the area of Cannon Street in the City of Poughkeepsie, NY.

According to a recent social media post from the City of Poughkeepsie PBA, it all started on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at approximately 11:11 p.m. when 911 received multiple calls reporting a large fight in the area of 50 Cannon Street in Poughkeepsie, NY.

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department (CPPD) dispatched numerous officers to the scene, and upon arrival, they located over 100 people involved in a physical altercation in a parking lot area.

As officers attempted to get the fight under control, it was clear they were going to need additional help and quickly requested help from other agencies in the area, including the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, MTA Police, Hyde Park Police, and East Fishkill Police.

As officers were attempting to break up the fight and get the crowd of people to leave the area, a uniformed police officer was punched in the face by one of the individuals involved in the fight.

Police didn't say what started the fight, but did say that all of the suspects involved were transported to police headquarters to be booked and were being held pending arraignment.
